Two months ago today we arrived at the Ohio Cincinnati mission home and were swept into a whirlwind of activity. Since then we have been out of breath most of the time.
This is three fourths of the missionaries in our district. This last Saturday - yesterday in fact, we attend two missionary correlation meetings - one with the Norwood ward the other with the Cincinnati ward.
It has been a busy week! Tuesday we worked half a day in the office - then left for our three and a half hour drive to Fort Wayne Indiana. Wednesday morning we arrived at the stake center a little after 8 am to start lining up the cars for inspection while elders and sisters from the Ft. Wayne and Muncie Zones who were attended zone conference. It was cold and windy. There were three of us inspection cars - myself and Elder Gray and Elder Carter. They were a life saver - without them I would still be stuck in Ft Wayne probably incased in ice trying to check the oil in a Ford Fusion. It took us over 5 hours to check out 23 cars.
We arrived home late that night - spent the next day, Thursday in the office getting caught up and ready for Fridays conference that was held in Liberty Ohio. There the three of us inspect 20 vehicles but in just over 2 hours. We finally go a system down and were able to breeze through them. I was glad it went much faster because we were then able to attend most of the meetings.
Today was our first Sunday to attend all of the meetings in the Cincinnati Ward. Primary children sang a musical number in sacrament meeting. It was so special. 7 children taught us about the importance of following the prophets.
We put our bird feeder out on the patio and we got a really big fluffy bird who devoured almost every thing while creating a big mess. I think we are finished trying to feed the birds. This guy will climb
up to the second floor onto the balcony - when we run out and scare him off he slips down the bricks and hides under our ledge and comes back out when we close the door.
We have had lots of gray and rainy days and the weather has been a little warmer. We are still waiting for spring to spring on us.
We have one more week of meetings this next week then a couple of weeks where we can catch our breath and hopefully do some visiting with members in our two wards.
It was sad for us to hear of the passing our one of our former neighbors. Sister Emeline Lines passed away last Saturday while working in the Temple. Such a shock to us all and our hearts go out to Brother Vardell. Separation is such a difficult thing to endure - but it is part of what we signed up for and cheered for when we saw this earth created.
One of our favorite ways to spend our time is visiting with our Kids and Grandkids. How nice it is to have the technology and means to do this. We miss them all very much and it is sad to see them grow up from week to week and we are not there.
Well that is about all for now. I have kind of a different day tomorrow. I have a root canal that has failed and have to have it re-done. Tomorrow is the first of several appointments to get that finished.
Well, everyone - stay safe and work hard - that is what I tell all of the missionaries when I talk with them. I have one of those phones that sometimes is always ringing.
