A Christmas in Ohio
Merry Christmas and Happy New year from the OCM (Ohio Cincinnati Mission) or as some say the "Only Celestial Mission".
We decided that for Christmas we would each shop for the other at Family Dollar. No budget amount and what you bought didn't necessarily have to make any sense at all. So on the way home from "work" on day we stop and went shopping. Even the bags were a gift. It was a little tricky checking out. I had the only debit card so I checked out then unloaded into the van and went back in and gave Cindy the card.
Then later in that week - Christmas Eve for me, the gifts got wrapped and placed back into the bags.
The next morning - Christmas day we put on some Christmas music and opened our gifts.
So we had brownie mix but no oil. We had to make another trip to the store to get some oil so we could make the brownies.
Different Christmas but still a special one. Christmas Eve we went to a combined sacrament meeting. Both wards who meet in the chapel we are assigned to participated in the program. There were six speakers - all short little stories - except for Bishop Parker who was the concluding speaker - and 12 musical numbers. It was a great meeting.
Just to give you a little flavor or our apartment. The Dryer is the auxiliary unripened fruit ripening station. So we are trying to ripen up some avocados and some pears.
Out our back patio - we are the second floor of the apartment building - is a wooded area and a little lake that in the spring and summer we will not be able to see because of the trees. And all day long there are many many Cardinals in the trees. Both male and female. It is such a cool sight.
Just to give you a flavor of the Mission Office. Sister Wendel - Cindy - spends most of her time at the front desk answer the phone - that is of course after she has done the dusting, vacuuming and other cleaning.
I spend most of my time at the computer and on the phone - taking calls from missionaries and auto vendors.
This is the desk where I spend most of my time. Taking calls from missionaries and Auto Vendors |
Some times it is fun to open the mail and see who it is addressed to. Never a dull moment. We looked all over for Elder Church.
We get all kinds of mail to all kinds of people |
Keys anyone. These are the extra keys to the 70 cars we have in the mission.
