Squirrel Tactics!

So I have a question for you.  When a squirrel runs across the road in front of your car - you have all had that happen right?  When he gets to the double yellow line that is painted down the middle of the road - what does the squirrel do?  I will answer that a little later.

The last few weeks have been filled with higher temperatures, more humidity and lots of rain.  Quite often we pick up the mail and the paper will not make the paper sound because it is too damp.  Wheat Thins are not crunchy and Oreo's are soft.  Kind of reminds be of being back in Taiwan.  All except that there are way too many cars and way too few bikes and almost no school uniforms.

A few weeks ago we went on an early Saturday morning "hike" in the Caldwell Nature Preserve" about five miles up the road.  The top picture is from one of those trails.  There was so much moisture in the air the the sun beams were everywhere!  We also found a spider who was a master engineer.  He had spanned a space between three trees that were three or four feet apart and was able to construct a web that was horizontal and look kind of like a trampoline.  Master builders everywhere!

We were able to help see off our departing missionaries once again.  I will never cease to be amazed at how much growth happens in the mission field in such a short period of time.

We had Elder Puzey and three sisters with us in our van.  On my there was never a quite minute - constant chatter.  These great missionaries are so easy to get to know and love even when you are constantly reminded that they are only "six years out of primary".  Sometimes we say that several times a day.

We got the chance to go back to Mt Ary forest and visit the tree house.  The last time we were there there were no leaves on any of the trees.  Now there is so much green that every trail and every gully looks exactly the same as the last one you were in.  But check out this tree house.  How much fun could you have there with the grandkids?

At one point on the trail there was a log that had a perfect hole in it.  Looks like it has been drilled out by some massive tool.

No rock pictures here.  We did however find a bridge so we did a bridge picture.

This looks like the same place and same time but it really isn't.  We most always have the trails to our selves.  Very seldom do we see people out hiking.  Maybe they don't like the mud or maybe they don't like the rain that falls on you out of a blue sky because a little breeze came up and shook the tree you are walking under.  Or maybe everyone just stays in bed on a Saturday morning.

Really how many different games could you play in this field?
Now lets get back to the squirrel.  Lots of squirrels in Ohio.  You can't drive down a side road without a squirrel running across the road directly in front of you.  Funniest thing.  It happens every time.  When a squirrel gets to the double yellow line in the middle of the road they always JUMP over the yellow line.  A perfect arc.  Up and over.  I wonder if I can get a grant of some kind to figure out why squirrels do that.

Looks like we will be leaving for home sometime in the middle of July.  Everyone stay safe - work hard - love your families - and Keep the Faith.

Till next time.  We love you - the Wendels
